Ingredients

1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs

1 tablespoon olive oil

Salt and pepper, to taste

3 cloves garlic, minced

Zest of 1 orange

1 cup fresh orange juice (about 2-3 oranges)

1/4 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup honey

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (optional, for thickening)

1/4 cup chopped green onions (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Prep the Chicken: Start by trimming any excess fat from the chicken thighs and patting them dry with paper towels. Season both sides lightly with salt and pepper.

Sear the Chicken: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken thighs to the skillet and sear for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until nicely browned and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

Make the Glaze: In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium and add the minced garlic. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it. Then, add in the orange zest, fresh orange juice, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and ginger. Stir to combine.

Simmer the Sauce: Allow the sauce to come to a gentle boil. Let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes until slightly reduced. If you prefer a thicker glaze, stir in the cornstarch-water mixture and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.

Glaze the Chicken: Return the seared chicken thighs to the skillet, coating them well in the sticky orange glaze. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, turning the chicken occasionally, until heated through and thoroughly coated in the sauce.

Garnish and Serve: Once the chicken is glistening and the sauce is sticky, remove the skillet from heat. Plate the chicken and drizzle any remaining glaze from the skillet over the top. Garnish with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.

Enjoy: Serve the Sticky Orange Glazed Chicken with steamed rice or a side of stir-fried vegetables to soak up the delicious sauce!
