Ingredients

1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

1 red bell pepper, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon ginger, grated

3 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, the cornstarch, and half of the minced garlic. Mix well and let marinate for 10 minutes while you prepare the veggies.

Prepare the Broccoli and Bell Pepper: In a small bowl, combine the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Set aside.

Cook the Vegetables: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and sliced red bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they start to soften but remain vibrant in color. Add the remaining garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional minute. Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set them aside.

Cook the Beef: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer (you may need to do this in batches). Sear the beef for 2-3 minutes, until browned but not fully cooked through.

Combine Everything: Return the broccoli and bell pepper to the skillet with the beef. Pour the sauce mixture over the stir-fry. Toss everything together, cooking for another 2-3 minutes, until the beef is cooked through and the sauce thickens slightly.

Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds. Serve the beef and broccoli stir-fry over cooked rice or noodles, and enjoy immediately!
