Ingredients

1 lb (450g) ground beef

2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)

1 medium onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup beef broth

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 tablespoon soy sauce (optional for flavor)

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 cup uncooked rice (white or brown)

Salt to taste

Instructions

Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté for about 3–4 minutes until translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.

Brown the Beef: Increase the heat to medium-high. Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula (about 5–7 minutes). Drain excess fat if necessary.

Add Broccoli and Seasoning: Stir in the broccoli florets, Italian seasoning, black pepper, and soy sauce (if using). Mix well to combine.

Incorporate Rice and Broth: Add the uncooked rice and beef broth to the skillet. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the skillet and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and has absorbed most of the liquid. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

Cheese It Up: Once the rice is tender, remove the lid and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top. Cover the skillet again for a few minutes until the cheese melts perfectly.

Season and Serve: Taste and adjust seasoning with salt or additional pepper if needed. Serve directly from the skillet for a cozy family-style meal.
